The Blue Ridge Parkway, one of the biggest national parkways in the country, goes through a huge part of North Carolina and thus through Haywood County. The parkway is a great way to experience nature as there are many scenic locations such as open waterfalls and picnic spots which appear through its journey. You can easily use the milepost system to navigate the road and find a perfect spot to stop for a picnic or even a campsite if you’re feeling adventurous. Come prepared though because the road has frequent blocks during the winters and the tunnels are usually closed during that time as well because of dripping ice. The best time for a trip on this magnificent and scenic route is from mid-spring to late autumn.
